Hydraulic seals

Question: I have a Kuhn GF 5202 THA Tedder. The hydraulic lift cylinder is leaking so needs new seals, which is a $140 cost for the kit. I’ve beat the net hard looking for less expensive aftermarket options, nothing coming up quickly. Have any experience with this specific brand? Thanks.

My thought is it is a proprietary cylinder, with not enough volume, that the aftermarket is not putting together kits for those cylinders. You might take it to a hydraulic shop, and they can likely match up seals for it. That is my plan if I chose not to buy the Kuhn Parts, if the one on our tedder starts leaking.

Another thought is some of the Kuhn tedders were rebranded by JD and NH. Your JD or NH dealer may know if that same cylinder is used on one or more of their units.

I agree with Jim. Take it to a hydraulic shop.

So where is the leak? Pics? If it is just the seal I bet you can find one at a bearing house.

Just to mention, the price I listed was from my local JD dealer. Obviously I want to avoid paying any labor. My nearest hydraulic shop is about 35 miles. I’ll give them a call and get their response. Thanks all.
