I had a hydro, It had a lock lever for maintaining constant speed, but it was not effective. Speed would gradually decrease. Doing field work holding constant speed was a major pain. I traded for a 2001 3010 with the "Glide shift" transmission. It has worked great for 23 years and 1800 hours.

John Deere's at least. Have a set and resume. Once you set it use same switch to plus or minus your speed. Just like a car. Has a lot more than that. But that is all I use. Can set it on like 5mph. Then can pull the throttle back and maintain 5mph if it can.

Getting new Kubota & was wondering which I should get. I have 800ft driveway that I maintain snow removal & road maintenance & my personal blacktop driveway snow removal. Any recommendations?

HST is much more convenient and less efficient. It will also sell much better sometime in the future.

Gear is less expensive and more efficient.

I took my L3560 to dealer for the first 50 hour oil change.
$800. This was 5 years ago.
I only have 138 hours total on my tractor. I bought it to mow a rental property, then 2 years later sold the property.
I mow my lawn with it and it takes 25 minutes each time. This tractor will last forever.
It cost me $190 for an anomaly code. The dealer couldn't find what caused it to throw a crankshaft code, so they called it an ANOMALY,
$190 to connect their computer to it. OUCH. I took it to the dealer because the tractor is still under its 5 year warranty. ANOMALYs are not under warranty.
You will need a fat check book. I don't have any other brands in Terre Haute to pick from.
I love the HST. I love the air conditioning too. However if you have a cab, you can't have a backhoe.
My Kubota has stall guard which will stop you before you spin the wheels if you run into a pile of dirt with loader.
The loader is similar. It will stop if you try to lift something too heavy and damage the hydraulic

Ouch! I see the maintenance schedule is more intense than my other tractors, but I am able to do scheduled servicing myself and have a good rapport with the dealer. Time will tell, and I certainly will post here if the bills run too high.

About the time you bought it you said that you got the non-hydro "because you couldn't tolerate the whine of a hydro"!!!!!!!! Are you "flip-flopping? Now with that said, has it been 5 years since you bought it? I remember you showing it to us. My how time flies......when you are having fun.....in the Golden Years????? Not hardly for this guy turning 83 this month.

Efficiency is of no concern to me on my LS MT2-25s hydro....i forget the last time I filled up. Amazed at the power of this little 3 banger. Very happy with it, the amenities and extra creature space provided. The upgraded seat is comfy.

Just a reminder make sure you use the UDT 2 oil from Kubota cheap hydraulic oil will eventually ruin your hydro transmission.

For doing the driveway work you described I don't see where a hydro would be a great benefit. For some jobs hydro's are really handy but for drive way maintenance no.

My 65 HP Branson 6530 is equipped like that with clutch, plus being geared with 4wd it is a good field worker. Works very well for loader work. Having cluching assist is not even thought about....old body just does it without a thought.

Stall guard? On a tractor? Oh my gosh. That’s like the traction control on vehicles these days, it ensures that you get stuck on snow and can’t get out. What a terrible thing.

I’ll have to be careful to avoid such machines. At my age that probably won’t be a problem, but I feel bad for young folk, they have to pay for this over engineered junk that doesn’t work, actually makes the tool less useful.

I’m old school and like my tractors gear drive. Less complex and more predictable to use and less power loss better efficiency.

But then, I sure like the hydro on the combine where on the go small speed changes are needed, so depending what you want to do with the machine I sure understand getting a hydro to fit some situations.
