I am sincerely interested in this but don't mean to sound insensitive. So what do you have to do different without part of your lung?

I was lucky. I got diagnosed during the 'bad thing in 2020". They were just going to remove the left lung. I raised Hell. A hospital, at that time, was the most dangerous place to be. And.......I didn't want to be put under, and have to go on the hospital Oxygen system........not knowing how clean it was at that time.

My Oncologist was a good one. He thought we might try Cyber Knife to kill the tumor. It took 5 sessions, of around 15 minutes each.........and it was dead. So, I kept my lung. Still cancer free......knock on wood.......but it could change any day. We go in every 6 months for a CT scan, and the occasional PET scan. I don't think I'll ever be free of the fear that it might return.

So..............no surgery, no anesthesia, and I made them do the biopsy with a local anesthesia. You have to be proactive, and also lucky to work with a Doc that's flexible. And, the tumor was well positioned for the machine to safely, and effectively, direct the radiation beam.

I wish you the best. Your whole world changes when you get that diagnosis. You're never the same again.

There is a future. 2012, removed lower lobe right lung, 2013 wedge removed lower left lung, 2015 left lung radiation and chemo for third separate cancer. 2weeks ago my oncologist stated he was fed up with me and only wanted to see me on the street. NO MORE checkups needed.
I was able to get off oxygen after procedures twice. About the last year I need oxygen when sleeping and with heavy exercise such as longer walks ect. Hang tuff, get better.

AI Overview

CyberKnife® vs. Traditional Radiation Therapy: Which is Right ...

CyberKnife is an advanced robotic radiosurgery system that uses image-guided, high-dose radiation to precisely treat tumors and other targets throughout the body. It offers a non-invasive, outpatient treatment option with minimal recovery time, delivering radiation with sub-millimeter accuracy while continuously tracking and synchronizing with the target to reduce side effects.

May you breathe for a long long time. Give the surgeon a modest hand made present, they really appreciate the sentiment, and they keep them. If you do the work, or purchase it either way it works. Jim
