Recently purchased an IH 350, tractor ran pretty good when purchased. Got it home and it ran out of gas, put a couple gallons of gas in and nothing but rust came out and plugged up the carb. Took the carb off and cleaned it up really good, after putting carb back on tractor will run but now has a backfire coming back through the carb. Checked compression from front to back, 150, 135, 150, and 100. What should I look at next?

I own one. the tank is tough to clean because it is difficult to remove. I drained my tank out of the sediment bowl using a funnel to direct the gasoline away from the tractor into an open bucket. Then I removed the small sediment bowl so I could get full flow out of the tank opening. I filtered the gasoline I removed through a double layer of cloth and used it to flush the tank. I did this several times. The hard part is that the tank has a baffle tube running down from the cap that prevents directing rinse fuel from hitting the upper sides of the tank. Give this rinse out a try. If uou decide to use a in line filter, Napa has some that are for gravity systems. (the little clear filters are not capable of flowing enough fuel for more than a lawn mower. Jim
