IH 414 Tractor

How do I change the hydraulic oil and filter in the IH 414 tractor? Does the hydraulic fluid gravity feed the pump or does the pump have to be primmed? If primmed how do I do theat?

Depends if your 414 is early or late model, late models may have a pipe plug on the rear of the hydraulic reservoir below the filler pipe plug to drain the reservoir. Older versions required splitting suction line at the rubber hose joint #2 on top right of transmission cover. See photos below.
Before changing hydraulic oil or cleaning the suction filter, we always positioned the tractor so the rear end was higher than the front end. Front wheels in a ditch or hole as this helped drain the oil and also when the reservoir was filled with new oil, the oil will run down hill and prime the pump. Now some of the later models had a fastener or clip #16 holding the suction filter in place, older models, suction filter only held in by the O-ring #4 on the photo below.
