Industrial enamel

Has anyone used the industrial enamel paint sold by Parts Asap on this site? I tried it and it states to use Naphtha as a reducer, It doesn't work as it should, I have painted for over 50 years and have never had a problem with most reducers, it says to clean up with mineral spirits and I'm going to try that as a reducer instead of Naphtha. Just wondering if any one else has had a problem like this. Thanks, Mike

I've used both and had no problems. The difference is the Naphtha will dry quicker and reduce the painting time. I do use mineral spirits for clean up because it is cheaper.

Be careful how much you reduce it. Those older type paints only need about 10% .
You can always add a splash more but you can't take it back out.
You say it doesn't work as it should . What's it doing.?
You might need to put it on a little dry , and let it settle / flow.

It seems to gel up and not want to go thru the strainer for one thing and when you paint it it covers fine but doesn't flow out and settle like I think it should.

I've had that happen but it's been so long ago I can't remember the circumstances. I plan to paint a bunch of parts in the next couple days with ASAP paint and napatha. It's bug season and would like it to dry faster. We'll see what happens.

I have used lots of this type paint in the past. I went to automotive paint supplier and purchased a "universal" solvent to use as a reducer. It did seem to work better than the Naphtha.

I am no painter but as a consumer I know that you have to be careful where you purchase some things that are no longer as advertised. Be sure that your naptha is, in fact, naptha. for example the Fels Naptha Soap no longer contains any actual naptha at all. Instead the naptha has been replaced by turpentine but the name remained the same.

Is this old paint? some will form a skin on top .
When you stir it up it'll plug the strainer up.
Also the wrong type reducer can make cottage cheese out of your paint.

Found my problem, I forgot to mention that I used a hardener on the first attempts, which the manufacture stated it was alright to use. I didn't use any on the second and third batch and they went through the strainer and worked fine. Longer drying time and not as durable but sprayed good. Thanks for all the comments. Mike
