I was replacing a rear tire and inner tube on my JD 4840 this weekend.
The new tube had either a protective rubber sleeve that was pretty poorly made over top of the valve stem - or it was just a piece of waste rubber from the manufacturing.
It was separate from the tube and just slides over the stem like a sleeve with a "foot" on it about the size of a tire patch.
Anyway, I left it on there thinking it would be a little bit extra padding/reinforcement around the stem - but now I can't get the the stem to come through the rim. I hate to get rougher with it and tear it...
Should that piece be left on?
