Insect bombs?

Back in the 50's I remember locking up the stable and then spraying an insecticide. We'd leave it a few hours and then air it out and all the insects (mostly flies and spiders) were belly up. Of course with the windows open, a new batch arrives!
Is there anything that can be used in a house basement that will do a similar job today?
Thanks

yeah, they still make "bug bombs". Should be able to get them at the harware or big box stores. Every once in awhile you hear on the news how some rocket sientist figured if one or two kills bugs, 10 would be better..then they blow out all the windows when the gas water heater starts up!!
Be Safe.

Fleas are horrible this year. Seems like I bring them in on my socks everytrip. We got to the point where on a Sat or Sun we would pick 20 or 30 fleas off of us or our clothes. We are clean people but felt really dirty.

So... sprayed the floors with something the vet said would work. Vacumed every night. Did work. Bombed the house(pickup up at walmart avoid Hartz).6 bombs used instructions said 4 per our sq footage. Still had fleas. Vacumed some more. Following weekend used 2 different brands total of 11(instructions called for 3.5 of one and 4 of the other by themselves).

6 fleas that night, 2 fleas the next day and none after. Flea problem solved. So yes I figured mroe would work better and it did.

Joe

PS gas water heater in the garage away from bombs....no blown windows..
