Installing alternator on 706

I have another question about installing the alternator on my 706 diesel, I want to make sure the idiot light works, I’m installing a 10si 3 wire alternator I understand where to go with all the wires expect for the #1 terminal on the alternator, can I tie in the wire from the number one terminal to the blue wire on the idiot light i understand we need a key ignition source and the idiot light is a keyed ignition source, and is the blue wire a ground wire for the bulb because when I test it with a tester there’s no power, I’ve read that you need a diode or a bulb between the keyed ignition source and the number 1 terminal, does the #1 terminal act like a ground to the idiot light until the tractor is started ( bulb going out when started), basically how can I wire this alternator so that the idiot light works.

Yes, this is correct. The bulb needs to connect in a series between the 1 terminal and a key on power source which is what you will be doing. Disconnect the blue wire from the original harness that goes down to the regulator. Also if the bulb filament happens to burn out then the alternator will not charge. This will be indicated by no warning lamp with the key on before starting it.

I have a 63 with 282 motor, here’s how I mounted mine , lined you pulleys and milled slot to mount alternate.
