International 3260 Deck

I have a 184 with the 3260 and recently blew out a spindle bearing. Bought a kit and replaced the bearings but for the life of me can’t figure out how to get the seals in. The OD seems to big to install into the bore and I’ve never seen seals like this, can’t figure out which ways faces where if I did get them in?

I would say the open side of the lip should go towards the oil or grease inside the spindle.

How about pictures of the spindle housing where the seals go? Have you used a caliper or mics to measure and check the difference in diameter?

In the photo where it is in your hand I would say the side towards your hand is the oil or bearing side. If you would have rolled it around in the dirt/grass a little more nobody would have been able to tell you what’s what for sure! Whichever side has the heavy duty, thickest, most robust lip that one normally is the oil or bearing side, the lesser lip side is the dust lip in most cases. You sure there is no part of the old seal still in the bore?

No taper in the bore, bearing race is 1.880, bearing seal is 1.980

A tenth of an inch difference isn’t going to work. Must be the wrong seals. Wonder if your spindle housings are aftermarket replacements with different sized bores?

The races went in about the same way they came out. Of you saw how this deck was when I got it you’d say they probably never replaced anything. I agree, a tenth isn’t gonna work. Probably Taiwanese seals
