International 384

Hey having trouble finding a replacement tach for a 384 the one in it I’m pretty certain has been replaced before but I don’t believe it’s the correct one. Can anybody with a 384 show me what the original tach looks like for this tractor? Thanks

Hi, according to caseih.com parts the original tachometer was p/n 31251089R1 but above s/n B001071 and up the p/n was 3125791R91
Dad had B414D, 434 and 384 and I can't remember the difference in the Tachometers. I know there was a European version with KPH instead MPH on the upper half of Tach. I looked at tractor parts on this site but did not find the Tachometer for 384.

I have a CIH 485 and the hour meter quit this summer- the rpm worked fine. I checked around, and about the only place who could/would try to repair it was Bates Corp. However, whatever part inside that broke was no longer available, so he sent it back to me. No dealer, or aftermarket supplier has a tach head. There are 'will fit' versions, but I think the difference is the RPM face: the rated PTO speed is different. What I ended up doing was to buy an electric hour meter off of Amazon and installing it. However, I don't like the fact that it adds hours no matter what the RPM, so the hours add up quicker. Lots quicker. I wish you luck, Mark.

Thanks all for the replies yeah iv seen some different options that I suppose will work the tach currently doesn’t work Iam replacing the drive and cable but not sure which meter to go with the one that was in it is locked up and Definitely not the original one it looks like the one that’s in are case ih 585 but I’m not sure what the original tach looked like for this tractor

An exact original tach may not be available for this model. It's an "oddball" at the time. The only one out of the entire 84 series built in Bradford, based on the B250, B275, B414 lineage. The larger 84 series were built in Doncaster based on a different design. Barnyard, you have jogged my old memory and I believe your photos of tachometers is correct for a 384. It was different than the B414 and 434.
