John Deere 115 Disc

My neighbor down the road has a disc harrow he will sell, its a JD 115, looks to be 10' at the back. He hasn't priced it yet hopefully it won't be too expensive. This one kinda looks like a offset disc, one gang section on the front and rear is back a little bit from the other side. It has brand new 22" scalloped disc on the front and 20" smooth disc's on the back. I've heard this is a finishing harrow but I'm just wondering how they do and if anyone on here has experience with one?? I'm just using a disc about 30-35 acres a year so it will last me a long time!

Yes those JD disk have a double offset configuration. I owned a model 210 & a similar but much heavier model 310. IMHO the JD 100 & 200 series are not good for primary tillage only secondary tillage. I used my JD 310 on many 100's of acres to prepare soil to plant small grains & sprigging Coastal Bermuda. Due to the double offset configuration be very careful when utilizing the lighter framed JD disk harrow in tighter type of soils close to fences & other stationary objects due to their tendency to wiggle around in tight soils. Heavier JD 310 still required caution when using close to stationary objec

The offset disk shaft configuration allowed disk to not require a center middle breaker attachment to remove the ridge between front disk shafts.

I didn't know 22'' disk blades were offered on that model but 22'' disks are shown in 115 PC
