has anyone out there had trouble with a jd 6410 or 6400 series, where the u-joint under the cab, that connects the shaft to the engine got busted.???

have a guy i do work for 6310L 4x4 with loader busted his tractor about 3 years old past warenty. not a bad job it didn't have cab so took floor deck off but did most from the bottom.

i guess that could be true but more likly just a bad part, as if i not mistaken none of the 6000 series have a clutch like we are ues to.it a direct drive from engine into transmission. the clutch pedeal dump the oil from the clutch pack located at front of transmissin. whitch has a modulating valve to keep sudden engagement from happing. there for the most likley caues is a bad u-joint. if it mad by man its going to barke soner or later. the one i replaced the guy was driving down the lane in second gear and it didn.t show that it had cracked earlyer the crack didn't have any dirt markes or rust in it and where i live it sure show if it been cracked before

Not the u-joint but the shaft itself. On the 6400s they were upgraded after they finished production, made the tube wall 50% thicker. We twisted 3 shafts off before they upgraded. Biggest problem was high-torque PTO use, we were grinding grain everyday. A lot of those shafts got changed around the country.

I twisted the shaft on mine. Took it to U Joint Specialists in Springfield, MO. New shaft welded back in for less than $100. Over $500 new complete with new u joints at JD.
