I have a jd 896A bar rake and need a replacement drive chain, I don’t know the size of the links I need can someone please help?

It appears to be "2060 extended pitch chain".

Yup, the 890 series of rakes used 2060 roller chain. Any industrial supply store should have or be able to order it and the connecting links. I have an 894 I added an extra idler sprocket to and used a longer length of chain to wrap around the reel sprocket backwards, so it spins backwards and functions as a rudimentary tedder.
In case you're not familiar with roller chain numbering: standard roller chain has the first number (or first two numbers for larger chain) refer to the pitch in eighth of an inch: #60 chain is 6/8" pitch (3/4"), #40 roller chain is 4/8" pitch (1/2"), #120 chain is 12/8" (1-1/2"), etc. Farm equipment and other low service equipment often uses 'double pitch' roller chain. It wears a little faster and doesn't have as much engagement on the sprockets, but it' s cheaper to make, and OK because the equipment is used for only a limited duty cycle. A rake or baler, for instance, might only see 100-300 hours of use per year, whereas industrial machinery operating two shifts and 6 days a week will see closer to 5000 hours of use a year.
For double pitch chain, a '2' or '20' in front of the chain size indicates it's double pitch. Ex.: #2060 chain is 2X 6/8" = 1-1/2" pitch. 2120 chain is 2X 12/8" = 3" pitch. Whether double or single pitch, it's all standard roller chain available at industrial supply stores, and often TSC/Napa/Agri-Supply (though double pitch chain is a little harder to come by at TSC).
