John Deere B axel lock up

Have a John deere B That freezes up on left axel. Disengage and it will go for a while then lock up. You better be hanging on.

Could also be a broken tooth on the brake gear as well as the bull gear. Pull the brake and jack up the wheel so you can spin it while looking inside. The little camera probes that hook to the phone work great

I have heard of worn bushing in the brake assembly causing strange things to happen. I would think that it would be more apt to happen when you were using the brake though. I heard a story about a 70 with a badly worn brake bushing that broke the main case. It had a load behind it on a big hill. The worn bushing allowed the brake gear to climb up on the bull gear. That might cause a lockup.
