John Deere M

I have an aftermarket 3-pt hitch on a 1954 John Deere M. Can someone provide suggestions on the best way to stabilize equipment from side-to-side sway?

Stabilizers are usually arms, bars, or chains (arms are essentially a bar, so really only two types at it's most basic). Some are mounted roughly perpendicular to the lower arms, some form an "X" pattern, others come it at an angle to each of the lower arms. An image search of three point hitch stabilizers, and a youtube search of the same should get you some ideas.

Jim's right - pictures of your setup would help us help you, otherwise we're just roughly spitballing.
