Lab grown meat

> How is eating meat from animals inefficient in obtaining protein?

Think about what you have to do: In order to grow an animal big enough to eat, you have to feed it. And most of that feed goes out the tail end, so you end up feeding the animal a lot more food than you get out of it when it's slaughtered.

Grass-fed beef isn't quite so bad for the environment as corn-fed cattle, but most of the beef we eat is from feedlots. There are plenty of people in the world who eat little or no meat, so we know there's no reason we HAVE to eat meat; it's just what we prefer.

> Mark, in a nice calm conversation I disagree that it is efficient nor just like meat nor healthy.

I never said lab-grown meat is efficient. Maybe some day, but today it's exorbitantly expensive. Read the article I previously linked to see just how expensive.

Having never eaten lab-grown meat, I can't say whether it's 'just like meat'. I defer to folks who've actually examined and eaten it, who say it's surprisingly close to real meat. Again, read the article for more details.

As for whether it's healthy, remember we're comparing lab-grown meat to animal-grown meat. Meat IN GENERAL is unhealthy, particularly when eaten in the quantities we consume in the US. But given that the DNA of lab-grown meat is the same as animal-grown meat, I can't see why it would be more or less good for you. It's the same stuff.

I read your statement wrong. I took inefficient as the same as the best source.
The best source for proteins is animal meat.

What goes out the tail end is called fertilizer.

Where are you getting your info that meat in the quantities we eat is unhealthy? Maybe corn fed beef is. Grass fed organic is very healthy for humans. You must be following the mainstream medical establishments view on meat consumption. They are generally incorrect. Now I will say that all animal meat diet for protein source is not good either.
Dont listen to doctors to live a healthy life. My lifestyle is healthy keto and intermittent fasting. Lots of meat and veggies.

This is my homestead, not a feed lot. Hay is from friends 5 miles down the road and supplements my slowly improving pasture. Keeping it local...

> Why don't you Google what chemicals Mr facts checker. It's on the internet.

Because I'm not the one claiming there are dangerous chemicals in lab-grown meat, amigo.

> Geez, I just thought the commercial was funny was all.

Randy, it might have been funnier if it had some basis in fact. As it was, it just came across as poorly-written meat industry propaganda.

Clearly lab-grown meat is a long ways away from being competitive with real meat. One has to wonder why the industry is so scared.

Not arguing Mark. Look at anything these days and you wonder why everybody is so scared. Name an issue and there's a propaganda machine trying to stir everybody up. That one was just particularly funny to me.

t was very funny.

These days you have to park half your wits at the door if you want to laugh without fear, lest your laughter be deemed an abomination unto Nuggin.
