Last winter's project

we were able to get a couple wagon seats that were at my wife's grandparents farm (we own the farmstead now, wife is 5th gen). I suspect her great great grandfather first owned the wagon that these came from. Last winter i did this little project but forgot to post it.

they are Webber seats and have the IHC logo on them so vintage wise they would be sometime after Internation bought Webber. the seats are in original condition and the labels are pretty rough. The only thing i did to the seat is put new springs on it and painted the metal bits. Also put a coat of poly acrylic on it to help protect it and your clothes but in hind sight should have used something else like polyurethane or antique oil.

to have it as a piece of furniture without compromising the original seat i made a small wagon box pretty much the same overall design of the original wagons but much smaller and with some proportions changed so your feet aren't out a foot in front of you. Used some wagon hardware from wagon box extensions like the metal strips on the tops of the sides and the strut/bolt that goes across to keep the box together when loaded.

She is storing blankets for the family room in the wagon box under the seat. The blue jean quilt you see was made from my grandfathers old work clothes. He passed away in 1978.
