Loader Question

Looking for a loader for my Oliver 1550, found a Miller Loader, made in Larchwood, Ia, Model M12. The hydraulic hoses have John Deere ends on them. Would that make the cylinders high pressure and if so, will my low pressure Oliver raise them? If the cylinders were low pressure would the high pressure tractor work with them or would it blow the seals??

Your tractor will raise them it will just be slower and lift less weight. The company is still in business here is a link to their website. Miller loaders At the bottom of the page if you can go to “Downloads” and there you can view/download the manual for that loader. I scanned through it pretty close and I did not see a PSI requirement or maximum listed anywhere. You might try contacting the company to see if they have any X PSI provided X lift data for that loader.

Interesting. Looks like they make some heavy loaders. I don't see an M12?

The M12 manual on their site shows welded cylinders so there should be no pressure issues. As used red MN posted if you have a lower operating pressure on your tractor hydraulic system, the lift capacity will be less. Speed can change with the pump flow volume.

When you say the hoses have JD ends on them, does this mean the remote couplers and valves were used to operate the loader functions (4 hoses total) or is it just a supply and return hose that go to a dedicated control valve on the loader itself? If it is the latter, the control valve might be closed center if it was used on a JD.

I put a JD 148 loader on my 1550. Works fine just maybe not as fast as it should. It came off a 4020 so closed center system. PO had replaced the original valve with a Pioneer. 1550 is open center so I had to modify the valve. I plumbed it from the power beyond ports. You'll need to put a hex socket type 3/8 pipe plug into the passage between the pressure and return ports.

How's the knee coming along, Chris? Hope you are recovering
& in good shape. Did you get snow last night? We have about
an inch & ice on some walks.

Doing better all of the time. I loaded and hauled 3 trailer loads of old non used equipment to auctions and spend a little time in the shop .If the wind dies down and it don't rain I'll probably go back to FS this week. We had about a inch last night ice not too bad. No serious wind damage from Friday night.
