Lost my phone

I have an I Phone and use a Otterbox cover and clip for my belt to carry it. I started wearing a back brace and with the phone on my belt, the brace won't go down far enough so I started carrying it in my shirt pocket. Today I drove an hour away from home to work on a Oliver super 88 that I bought from a friend. I used the phone in his shop while there. When done, I gathered up my tools and loaded them up and left. About a mile down the road I realized I didn't have my phone in my pocket so I turned around in a guys driveway and got out of the truck to check the passenger side for it, not there. I drove back and checked the shop for it, can't find it so I had Vince call me thinking I could hear it ring, nothing, then he called while I was by the pickup, still nothing. Wife and I have Find My Phone on both of our phones so the only option was to drive home, use her phone to find mine and go back and get it. Got home and tried her phone, can't find mine, Dang!! now what? I called our daughter, 1 1/2 hours away and told her what happened and she tried it on her phone and was able to find my phone. She sent me a text with a picture of where the phone was at, where I turned around and got out and looked for it. I called Vince with my wife's phone and told him where it was, so he drove down to look for it. He called and said he saw it laying in the guys driveway as he drove up . He said he would leave it inside to door to his shop so I could get it. So my VERY UPSET wife and I drove up and got it. I'll probably never hear the end of this! So much for the back brace, can't use it until I find a better way to carry my phone. It really sucks getting old!!
I have a friend who was always losing his phone. Finally he attached a coiled expansion cable to it and then anchored the other end of the cable to his desk. He says it's never gone missing since ......

When working, I always wear bibs. I carry my iPhone in one of the bib pockets & my money/cards in the other. Much easier to hear when it rings than when it is buried in a lower pants pocket.

I also keep mine in my bib pocket. When leaning over something to work on it I have to take it out for fear of breaking the phone.

The only place I can carry a phone is in a pocket on the side of my pants, just above the knee. There is no way I can use anything on my belt.I buy my pants from Baileys chainsaw supply.I use their Wild A@@ pants. They have the side pockets, and double fronts.I can shred the front of my pants,so those double thickness pants hold up pretty well.If I'm wearing overalls I do put the phone in the bib, that works fine too.I went to climb down off a log truck once and when I bent over the phone slid out of the bib,and hit every rung of the steel ladder on the way down. There were 3 parts on the ground, the phone, the battery, and the battery cover. That was one of the old Nextel rubber covered flip phones,I put it back together and used it until I changed carriers.

Everyone should take an hour out of their day and prepare their phones for getting lost/stolen. Your phone contains tons of personal information, email accounts, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. You can erase a phone remotely or Lock it and mark it as lost remotely. You will need to prepare your phone in settings to allow remote activation of these features, find the instructions for your model online and just do it. You also need to record some identifying numbers from the phone and have them written down somewhere. You also need to file a police report and your cell service provider as they can deactivate your sim number so no calls can be made with that sim. It's not something to learn after the phone is lost, prepare it beforehand! So Glad you found It!

I've started to wear Wrangler brand pants with zippered thigh pockets. I tell myself it's the cell phone carrying solution that I need, but the elastic waistband is nice, too.

Unless your shirt picket zips shut it is the very worst place in the world to carry your phone, for the reason you have discovered.

My wife lost her phone somewhere between MSY and DFW a while back. We never found it, but during the search I visited DFW's lost and found and the volume of lost phones they have there is just incredible. This is just phones found at DFW, not even ones lost on planes, and a month pretty much fills a sizeable (two shoebox?) sized tub.

Beyond the remote wipe stuff, be sure you backup / archive everything on your phone regularly, i.e. with kids you will have many GB of pics and vids of family activities you don't want to lose.
