Milwaukee Super Sawzall

I have a Milwaukee Super Sawzall catalog #6537-22 about 1999 vintage. It randomly quits running while using it. I tried wiggling the cord, turning the armature with a screwdriver to a different position, snapping the trigger. I tore it apart and nothing is dirty or loose, the brushes and armature are in good condition. I did a google search and these were the common things to check. It will sometimes start working if you rap it with a hammer. This machine doesn't have a lot of hours on it I don't think it's worth sending to a repair center because by the time I pay shipping, parts and labor I will have more in it than it's worth. Any ideas of what and how to check? Thanks in advance,

just a thought where you seem to be touching a lot of points, but have you checked the actual cord..both tool and cord end terminations ? Maybe the next time its quits, can you gently take the handle cover off without disturbing or moving anything else and check from the male cord end into the tool itself for a circuit? hope it helps.

Sometimes brushes seem to be good but they are now. I would try new brushes and go from there.

I will re check the brushes, but they are contacting the armature and armature is smooth. I will also try the contact cleaner on the switch. I had a belt sander do this once and it was the switch, but I hate to start a parts cannon without some diagnosis because I checked and a switch is $40. I did a continuity check on the cord and it checks out ok.

If it is any consolation mine does the exact same thing . I suspect it has something to do with the switch though I've not be able to confirm it .
It's random , intermittent and annoying but I live with it for the moment.
