Missing hydraulic screen

Now that the weather has cooled a little, I got back to work on my "new" YM2000. Drained the hydraulic fluid and removed the cover to check the screen and there isn't one! I'm going to order a new one, but wonder if anyone has had one fall off inside the reservoir? I'm going to see if my retractable magnet finds anything. It's possible the PO removed and never replaced due to cost, as I'm finding with many issues on the bleepin thing.

Ordered the replacement screen and it isn't going to arrive until the day it's supposed to start raining. I'd really hoped to get this little tractor functional enough so I could get my poor-girl barn (30x40 carport that I hang heavy duty tarps on during the 2 months of winter weather ) cleaned out and downed limbs moved out of the way. I wish I knew more about wiring to determine why the new warning light assembly fried the old battery. Have the diagram from the manuals I downloaded off of the Yanmar forum, but I guess I'm not bright enough to decipher it.
