MM UTS Cleaning up block

I'm just getting back to this job, been a while. Anyway I got the rear block removed from the engine now. I will clean it up and put in the new soft plugs for both the front and rear blocks.
Got some dirt and broken gasket material down in the lifters and crank area. I still have oil in the pan so will drain that out.

What do you use to clean everything with at this point?
Bill

Do you have a pressure washer? I use with Mean Green or Purple power for soap. Be ready to blow them dry and spray with some kiind of oil like PB-Blaster or WD-40 to retard any flash rust after washing.

If you plan on honing the cylinder bores, at Vo-Tech we were told to use hot water and soap. Clean with a sponge, rinse and check with a white towel. When the towel comes out unstained it is clean enough. If it comes out slightly gray, repeat the cleaning process.
