NH 258 rake

I have a used NH 258 hay rake. It came to me with the rubber mount rake tines. I've seen both the rubber mount tines & spring coil tines advertized to fit this rake. Anyone know if either can be used or should it only be the rubber mount tines?

We always used the coil tine because the rubber tines would degrade in the sun and end up in tires. The old oem rubber tines held up better, or so it seems.

I think you need to use all one or the other.

It is very rare to see a rubber base tine on a New Holland rake in my region. I have seen it, so I know it can be done, but maybe one in 75 or 100 NH rakes will be rubber locally?

When you get rid of the rubber ones you will need new mounting brackets and carriage bolts

Looks like when using the spring coil type that you only mount two. My rubber mount tines are installed in banks of 3 but the coil spring in the third position ( when standing behind the rake ) hits the curved bars that divide each bank of tines as they rotate. Also, the youtube videos only show spring coil tines in banks of 2! Any thoughts?
