Case LA.

The only bad memory I have of these tractors was, on the coldest February day with a wind blowing straight off the North Sea, in the middle of a large field, with no shelter, helping sort out a broken chain in the rear axle. I was working with a very experienced Case mechanic and each one of us, with as many pullovers, overalls and coats as we could wear, could only take a couple of bolts out of the cover before returning to the van and warming up with the heater.

Great tractors and the farmer concerned still uses some of them today for light jobs.

Probably many of us who have repaired machinery in colder climates have experienced similar situations. Many times I have gone back to an idling vehicle to thaw out. I don't have to do that type of thing any more. And it's a good thing. My brand new pickup truck will turn itself off after idling for ten minutes or so!

On days when doing chores or outside repair work at places away from the home yard the pickup may not get shut off till back at home and the doors opened and closed many many times. Beware of low mileage used pickups with worn out door hinges.

Yes or rub your gloved hands up and down the muffler to thaw out your frozen fingers. Don't leave them in one place on the muffler or it will burn the yellow fuzz on the corn huskers. Or take your gloves off and hold them over the opening of the muffler. Let the 2 cylinder pop into gloves about four times. They were toasty warm when you put them back on.....for about 2 minutes.

Interesting how jobs that were once thought of as "heavy" are now considered "light".
Likewise, tractors once thought to be "big" are now thought of as "small".
