OT Ford F 250

I have a Ford F250 6.0 motor. I have not had much trouble with it. The water in fuel light is on and had it checked when the check engine light was on. The dealer told me that the manifold for the seperater would need to be changed. Has anyone else had this problem and what does it take to fix it. Not going to pay $300-500 to fix it if I can do it myself.

Have you tried draining the water out of the fuel/water seperator on the driver side frame rail. Owners manual states for it to be drained at every oil change.
