The new gilts I saved and the new boar I bought are starting to come in now. 3 so far, 2 Wednesday and one Friday. 16 pigs, then 8 then 13.

I have 3 more gilts to come in yet, one is a few weeks out and the other 2 I'm not sure of. One if those is for sure bred, the other I don't know.

I'll keep 20-25 of these to sell for meat next spring an the rest will go as feeder pigs.

Nice looking piglets. Your pics bring back memories of when we raised hogs.

Very nice. A friend of mine used to keep sows, and he would have me come over to help him a little. He had 30 sows, and ten farrowing crates. So generally had 10 sows all bred to come into the crates, and ten to shift out of the crates at the same day. I liked working with the sows, they can be very friendly. Your sows bring back a flood of memories. And it is rather amazing how it doesn’t take all that many pigs to keep a barn warm in the winter, and given the chance, a pig can be about the cleanest animal you can keep. Hope you share more photos with us when these piglets reach the 30lb chunk size. They are so playful at that stage.

Reminds me of when I bought 3 piglets for my kids to raise. About that time, the USDA Farm Censless called and asked me the usual question about my farm. When we got to the livestock inventory, he ask how many pigs I had? I said 3 little pigs. I was not trying to be a smart azz, just answer his question. Then he says Do you really expect me to believe that? I told him he was welcome to come take a look. But he turned down my invitation.
