I removed the battery on my 8n to clean it up, the Internet says it should be polarized, the Internet says it don't need to be polarized, some say disconnect the battery, some say you don't need to disconnect the battery, the more I read the more confusing it gets, can someone tell me what is correct.

No expert but I dought the generator magnetism total discharged to eliminate that electron path . Follow the Ford electric wiring schematic to reinstall the wires . Start it . Should charge as normally. Best I can sy .
If it doesn’t by all means do a polarization. I don’t think it needs if ,if stunt are working .
Checking our resources in the header how to polarize, will help .trust it to give the facts over an unknown source in interweb . Good luck get back to us how you do. Another opinion
All current comes from ground. So extra care that your ground are in verified. Just added this ,since battery was out .clean and clamp secure

One thing at a time. If it was charging before, and you just unhooked the battery to clean it, just hook it back up and try it. If it doesn't charge, then come back here for info on polarizing the generator.

To your question on whether the battery needs to be hooked up or not, if that time comes the battery will need to be hooked up correctly before polarizing the generator.
