My buddy bought a 1256 international which hasn’t run in a couple years.can I clear all the fuel and injector lines as well as drain the tank then try to start it or will the injection pump need attention.i will also drain and refill the filters with fresh fuel

It has a Roosamaster pump, not sure if you have read this on here but in some cases warnings are put out to not even attempt to rotate an engine until the pump has been removed and made sure it turns. It is NOT that type of pump that. Unless the old fuel you see is thick and gooey in the filters etc. you probably don’t need to pull the injector lines off. Just crank it and see if it starts. Bleed the lines if needed.

If you open the lines to drain or change filters you will need to bled them out to the pump. IF you have the injector line open they will need bled also. Not a big job just close the tank valve change filters open drain with bleeders open and close as fuel runs clear of bubbles. then bleed pump if all that was open. With injector lines loose at injector cranking will fill the lines as air is expelled tighen the lines back up and it will probably be running be fore you get them all tightened up.

Personally, I’d just go ahead and go through it while it was off. Even if it does spin free, it’s still likely the metering valve and/or fuel plungers are stuck.
