I have a 52 8N Ford Tractor that I am having problems with the PTO kicking out of gear while I am mowing;works fine w/the boxblade- and now when I hook the bush-hog to the tractor it will not stay in gear or turn the blade, and I have not had any problems before now, I have cked the oil and the pin slides in and out just fine, it just kicks out when I try to use my bush-hog. Any suggestions??? Thanks

You may have a "twisted" PTO shaft... the splines twisted at an angle from abuse on the rotary cutter.

Also, see a recent PTO post, linked below:

Got any in/out play onthe pto stub.. if so.. bearings worn or shaft is twisted, and the play lets the shaft 'walk' out of engagement.

post back.. preferably on the ford n forum..
