Have you ever heard of a model 60 tractor that was under development during the early days of Massey Harris Ferguson, but never went into production? A friend mentioned it to me last night.

Have you ever heard of a model 60 tractor that was under development during the early days of Massey Harris Ferguson, but never went into production? A friend mentioned it to me last night.

Does he mean the LTX Bob? That was a Ferguson project that was just about to go into production at the time of the takeover. It had been developed and tested and would have been a very successful tractor but Massey already had a large tractor and killed the LTX off. All prototypes were supposedly broken up but, a few years ago, a farmer in Ireland was asking his dealer for spares for his tractor, the dealer had never heard of the parts required and on further investigation, the tractor proved to be an LTX prototype, loaned to the farmer and never returned to the factory. The tractor was collected from his farm and broken up at the Banner Lane Factory.

Yes, that is it. I did a google search for the LTX and found that is was also known as the TE-60. Too bad management was so determined to erase all evidence of its existence.
