Regular vs F20

Besides the exhaust manifold are there other ways to tell a F20 from a Regular? I am looking at a F20 for sale but I think it is a Regular. I do not have a serial number yet to help. The reason I believe it is a regular is it has the low exit exhaust manifold on it vs the upright on the F20. Are the two exhaust manifolds interchangeable?

An F 20 will have rib on the rear axle housing for a kind of foot rest. A Regular doesn't. F 20 has enclosed steering, Regular has exposed gears. There are other differences that I don't remember off hand but those are the most obvious. Not to say anything couldn't have been changed over the last 100 years.

Regular is 3 speed, F20 is 4 speed. In this part of the world, it is not uncommon to find a Regular engine installed in a F20. I have such an animal. I suspect the reason is because F20's got water in the cylinders due to the upright exhaust and the engine became seized. Regulars, with their underslung exhaust, did not suffer from this flaw. So good Regukar engines were used to replace bad F20 engines.

Based on all your info I am looking at a F20 with an engine from a Regular. I am sure for some this may reduce the value a bit but I think I may still be a buyer. Thanks for all the help!

Put a F20 manifold, carb, and aircleaner tube on it and I doubt if anyone will know the difference. May need throttle linkage from governor to carb, too. Been too long for me to remember. Personally, i don't think its worth the effort. 99% of the people who will look at the tractor wont have a clue that it isnt straight from the factory.
Jim, you are correct. Don't know how I overlooked this very obvious difference.
