What do you mean by "scoped"? How did that stop the pain?

I think he means arthroscopic surgery. With a scope as opposed to being filleted wide open.

Anyone on here had shoulder surgery whenever I try to raise either arm out to the side to raise above my head or put my arm behind my back the pain is pretty bad to where I have to stop.i researched it some and most people that have it done still have pain after surgery just trying to get some information about it thanks Rick

Both Shoulders have been repaired. The first one I stripped all the tendons off the ball. Three hours of surgery, three months of pt three times a week with full ranges of motion. No pain after PT. PT was tuff pain wise for the first half.

Second shoulder was a simple tear and was done with the camera deal and PT was not as painful. My daytime supervisor quit and I had to stop PT. I never regained full range of motion. No pain now other than it is a type of pain to not be able to reach things.

Get the surgery and don't sluff off in the PT. The pain it PT is worth every tear drop wears later.

I know this post is already about two years old, but if you are still struggling with your shoulder, do not go under the knife until you are sure what you have.

Most people here are talking about the rotator cuff, but my problem was exactly arthritis and I wasted months with wrong diagnoses in clinics around Ohio. Eventually I stumbled upon some medical explanations on the web and saw exactly what this wear means in reality.

Stop guessing on forums, read that and go to a specialist who knows what he is doing.

Voltaren and its generic knockoffs are an over-the-counter topical gel that can reduce arthritis joint pain for several hours. It does nothing to cure the actual problem, but it can help people continue to function while waiting for a real cure or between steroid shots as the effects of the steroid shot wear off. My doctor recommended it to me. Other elderly family members were already using it, some daily, some only occasionally as needed.

The generic name is Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel 1 percent. The generics cost about half as much as Name brand Voltaren. Both work equally well for me.

Joe is correct!
I had both of my shoulders done at Fort Wayne Orthopedic. The Orthopedic Doctors will have you get an MRI before helping you make a decision.
On my second shoulder I went to a different Orthopedic Doctor and when he told me the only way he would repair my shoulder I told Dixie he is full of horseapples that it will never happen and went the next day to Fort Wayne Orthopedics. The Doctor there would repair it the way I thought it should be repaired. If something does not sound right get a second opinion.

The kept me over night on the first surgery so this was the day after and Rusty was showing sympathy. Ice packs are your friend.
November of 2009
