Another silo from days gone by, that one has a different style roof than most I've seen. I'm still in awe about how straight old barns from that era stand against the test of time, a true testament to the craftsmanship that builders used when designing those buildings in the day. Thanks for taking the time to bring them to us here.

And.....maintaining a good roof (like this one) goes a long way towards preserving old barns.

Seeing that barn painted half way up makes me smile. In my early 20s I would borrow the old neighbors hay wagon. The lady neighbor was 94 and her husband had alzheimers. She took care of him and the place. One time when I went to borrow the wagon she told me that when I brought it back to park it as close to the barn as I could get it. I asked her why and she told me I'm going to paint the barn as high as I can , then hire the rest.
I always talked to her husband when I went there. I told him Billy I'm borrowing your hay wagon. He set there a minute and then asked me, You got a team? I told him that I was using a tractor and he set there a minute and said That'll work. Good memory.

Another time she called me and asked me if I would come down and shoot a skunk she had trapped. I did and she instantly went in with a shovel and took that skunk and buried it. I told her Bell, I don't think I could do that. She told me, you shoot my skunks and I'll bury yours.
Very tough and wily old lady.

I have a lazy, good for nothing cousin who lived with his mother. I took my Mother to visit and their big old 2 story house needed paint bad. My Mother told my cousin,,you've been living here for free all these years why don't you at least paint the house? He said,,look at me, I can't climb no ladder (he was overweight and out of shape) Mother said ,,well why don't you at least paint it as high up as you can reach? His response,, Ma and me, we ain't got no money.
