This barn is a section west of the mail box. Always makes me wonder.
Some section roads are longer than that. Sometimes it feels like a long section because of the truck you’re in.Nice picture. I like how you describe distance by using the term “section west of the mailbox”.
Here most country folk would say “about a mile down the road”.
Very interesting! Beautuiful old silo and unique barn. This barn is a section west of the mail box. Always makes me wonder.View attachment 110436View attachment 110437
Maybe for "calling the cows"?Very interesting! Beautuiful old silo and unique barn.
My guess on the raised deck: A hunting platform???
Thanks again for your beautiful pictures. Dads barn had 2 natural draft ventilators like that one. When we were stacking hay up there would toss some chaff at them and watch how it was drawn up.This barn is a section west of the mail box. Maybe there is a small place to live in the barn so the balcony was put on the have a nice place to sit out sideThat's rare, seeing a barn with a silo AND animals in the barnyard. All looks to be well maintained also, thanks for the pics.
Just curious though, whats the purpose of the raised deck on the rear of the barn? anyone have idea's.
A hay bunk below the deck could be filled easily without having to throw the hay from the door??? Or possibly to look over the cattle in the lot without having to walk out through them??? Many sale barns have a walkway over the pens so you can look over the animals without entering the pen. That's rare, seeing a barn with a silo AND animals in the barnyard.
