Solvents for algea?

Last weekend i was out disking with the 560 and it died out in the feild. I found i had severe algae in the tank and was flaking off and pluging the bowl screen. I drianed the 20ish gallons out of the tank through the screen under the tank and through cheese cloth. (Plan on running that fuel throuhh other engines slowly after i treat it). My question is, what slovent or other chemical will disolve the algae out of the tank.

Don't be putting that fuel into another tank you will have 2 tanks to clean. Best put in back into the original tank and then talk to your fuel dealer and get the stuff to get rid of the algae. You will need to fill the tank completely full to get rid of the algae.

It was not from a storage tank. The tractor sat for 8 months on a dealer lot. I think when i started using it it started to work the algea off the tank

Howes Treatment seems to be a good solution. Follow the directions and expect to change filters more than once. Jim

While they call it algae it is really a microscopic bug.
It lives between the fuel and the water in the bottom of the tank.
No way I would introduce this fuel into another fuel system without first running it through a fuel polishing system.
Most just throw the bad fuel away.

Fill the tank with fuel and add a Biocide at shock level treatment.
I like BIOBOR JF but there are others.
The biocide will kill the bugs and the tractor filters will filter out the algae looking junk.
You may need several filter changes.

Might not be a bad idea to treat every tank you have as the water may be from your on site storage tank or your fuel supplier.
