Tape measure

When measuring from corner to corner to square something up how do you hold the tape on corner working by yourself ? Is there a little tool that would slip over corners to hook tape to or should I make one ?

It does not matter as long as you hook it the same and measure to the same spot on the opposite end.

I just center the hook on the one corner and keep tension on it while a walk around to the other side and measure. Sometimes it comes off but not often enough to worry about it. If I had the gizmo shown I would never be able to find it when I needed it.

The tape measure has a locking button. You could measure from the 1 mark.

Reminds me of a contractor having to take up and repour a garage floor due to out of square. He crossed measured the first one and found the measurements equal, then poured.
Turned out it was a trapezoid, the back wall was greater than the front! Just be sure of the equality of the opposite sides! Leo
