Not sure if this is a valid place to ask this question.

What $$ range would fit for a used 20 ft deckover gooseneck hitch Featherlite STL brand trailer. 102 inch width. 4 ft ramps. Bad spare tire. Not sure of condition of other 4 tires in singles positions and not sure if they are original tires. Not sure of the trailers age, but guessing about 15 years. Has sat outside with no protection from the weather. It is a flatbed steelframe - no aluminum. It is in southern Minnesota. Not sure if it has been on the salty roads in the winter.

Edit: More info and photos. It does have 7000 lb axles. It was made in Dec, 1997 so about 27 years old. Deck boards look reasonably good Didn't find the info for tire age.

STL isn't shown on Featherlite's website that I see, which could be due to age and model identification changes. Is this an aluminum body stock trailer?

Tire condition is tire condition, original or replacement. Are they the right load rating to match the axles? What is the rating of the axles? What is the load rating of the trailer?

You need to evaluate the condition of the suspension and floor. Not knowing the area, it is in, winter use and road conditions the frame and axles need to be checked for rusting/corrosion.

It is not uncommon for tailers in our area to break axles right at the U-bolts if used a lot on the sloppy salted roads in the winter. If torque tube type axles check the mounting ends, those can rust away. Wiring condition? Working brakes and breakaway switch?

Any optional trim items?

Many things can affect price, and prices can vary from one area to another due to supply and demand. Look at the asking prices for similar trailers in your area. Asking price range around here, given all the unknown variables, could be $7500 to $15,000. Just my thoughts.

Edit: Guess I spaced the deck over part. Things to consider are the same outside of the aluminum and stock trailer part. The price for a steel (as you edited in) deck over like you describe would run $2000 to $5000 asking price around here.

Check the age of the tires, it is stamped on them. If they are over 6 or 7 years old, they are ready to start blowing out on the road with a load on.

Single wheels likely means it has 7k axles. That means 14000-15000 GVW and 10k payload. Are you buying or selling this trailer? Is this trailer a 15+5 or is it a 20’ flatbed with ramps? The VIN plate or title should give you the year of manufacture. A few years ago, used trailers were sky high, but now they have come down quite a bit. Most popular trailers seem to be 20+5 or 25+5. If it doesn’t have a beaver tail, interest will be much lower. Assuming it is a 20’ with ramps, and with no pictures, I’ll guess it’s value will be somewhere around $2000. If it’s a 15+5, I’d say somewhere in the 3500 range. My estimate is worth what you paid for it…

Could be worth anywhere from $1000 to $7000. Could be a cream puff. Could be scrap iron. We can't tell from here, even if we had pictures.

A 2018 Moritz 30ft deckover gooseneck with a hydraulic dovetail recently brought $5950 at a local auction. It was extremely rusty for only being 6 years old, but that's typical for trailers. Most trailer manufacturers use garbage steel and poor quality paint, and here in the rust belt, they look pretty bad in short order. Usually trailers are ready for the scrap pile at 15 years old unless extraordinary measures were taken to preserve the trailer.

If you're buying, pay as little as possible. If you are selling, get as much as you possibly can.

Probably assume it needs tires, but if you really want to know the tire's age look for a small oval area molded into the tire with a 4-digit number. It will only be on one side of the tire. The number is the week and year that the tire was made. If it's more than about 5 years old, figure on replacing the tires. They'll probably hold for the trip home but I would recommend not trying to haul a load with it without new tires.
