A large part of my memories of harvest during the late 1950's were centred around one of these bunchers. During that time, bunchers or Low Density Balers were used on the back of combines or trailed, like this one. Bunches worked quite well and were light to handle, compared to high density balers like the Massey 701, and did not break the straw up, they were the best form of insulation in a potato 'grave' and were used for this job up to the 1990's when specialised potato stores became more common.
