What signifies a distillate engine?

I know parts can be swapped in all sorts of ways, what would be some internal differences? This appears to be a distillate manifold on a 1943 Allis C that had the 2 bolt valve cover. The pistons are 3.250" diameter which wouldn't be right for a C?

Your engine was definitely shipped from the factory on a B. The first C's were shipped with the 3 3/8" pistons. That plate was shipped on those years on both the distillate and regular gas engines. The ability to use the tractor distillate fueled it would have a small tank under the hood to start it on gas and also have a heat box where the information plate is on yours with the plate moved to the outside of the heat box for running on distillate .
I have a hood with the small tank hanging in my shed. Not sure I have a picture of it. If I find one I will post it for you.

The only picture I could find of that hood I could find, and it is only the tip of the bottom in the upper right corner and a reddish orange. You just have to take my word for it.

So the information plate is a factory item----I thought somebody made it to be flashy.

Re thinking the heat box I think the heat box might be behind the plate. I never used the manifolds that had the plates as they were in bad condition. Look behind your plate.

I don't know if it applies to the AC or not, but I remember reading not long ago about a guy working on an Oliver 60. He got a manifold from a salvage yard. The tractor never ran quite right. He had it off again and compared the two. The carburetor bolted on OK, but the diameter of the intake was different farther up inside. Apparently the one from the salvage yard was from a KD engine. I don't recall of the KD was larger or smaller ID.

I have two Oliver 60 project tractors and have never opened up one of those engines.

I'm assuming it had something to do with kerosene vaporizing different than gas or something?
Something has to be my guess! Your assuming would have to be closer than mine. I should have cut up the manifolds I had for the Allis B's. I never wanted to run one on kerosene was the main reason.
