Yes,kerosene stove.I have a couple of them with the window,but a little different design as that one.Look at the threaded cap on the side,there will be,or sign of,either a spike,or nipple sticking out.Or,maybe a compressable disc with a spring behind it for the valve.Yours is the low profile type that laid down out of sight behind a parlor stove.Most kitchen ranges used an upright glass or tin jug,where nobody bothered to keep them out of sight.

If I had a window like that, in my JD tank I would through away my stick. I gave up on trying to make the gage work. Stan
