x380 lawn tractor problems

Although this is a newer mower, I am hoping someone can help. This mower is 4 or 5 years old.. Reverse has slowed almost to a stop. Forward works fine. Anyone know to fix it. Thanks.

Might have4 had the control linkage slip on a rod or cable adjustment or dirty filter might though would think that would affect all hyro operations.

Kanzaki K58 transaxle made by Tuff Torq.
"Non serviceable"

Check the adjustment on the reverse peddle linkage.

You can bleed the system by putting the transaxle in freewheel. Start the engine then cycle between forward and reverse a few times. But rarely ever does the system need bleeding unless it has lost fluid somehow.

Some K58s have drain plugs. If yours does, an oil change wouldn't hurt and may help. But, it the fwd speed is normal, it's not likely to be and internal or oil issue. More likely to be linkage. JD always limits rear speed. On my 455 I installed an aftermarket pedal to get the speed to nearly the same as forward.

BTW, if you do opt for an oil change, Tuff Torq tech recommended 5w50 full synthetic when I spoke with them a few years back.

One time I had to replace the drive belt.
Another time I had to change the oil in the tranny.
Sometimes if there is no drain plug, you may have to remove the axle and turn and drain the oil from the vent hole.
