Does anyone know if the older original copper head gaskets are better than the new style head gaskets for the John Deere two cylinders diesel's or are the new ones today better

there is no doubt about it. old is better!

Not sure on Deere tractors, but we reused copper motorcycle head gaskets. Heat them up on an electric stove burner to anneal them.

likewise with Yamaha Warrior. Except didn’t need to heat them. Nothing but 3 steel shims riveted together…. Dammed if I’ll pay them $40 for that…
