Too many tractors

Sounds like heresy to me…but in all seriousness yes there is a law of diminishing returns. I have 10 currently. They all run and drive. 3 are done and what I want them to be. The rest need some sort of restoration or paint etc. I have enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life. In the end if you want 600 of them great! I know I am full up at 10!

Is the such a thing as: “Too many Tractors “? My wife thinks so.
all depends on who the boss is. i have at least 60 and at times i think its too many, but if another one comes up that u want u gotta have it. i don't need to go to museums to see old tractors. some i have even museums don't have . and i am picky what i buy, no painted tractor is one thing. I can turn back the clock in my world to any decade working in the field. i been farming with my 660's no cab, no power steering, no fancy soft seat, and by the end of the day i am one dirty dusty guy. and that's why everybody gets sick nowadays, gotta eat a little dirt. and do i want a new tractor, definitely no. i can fix my own tractors. was just talking today to my Buddie and farming. i told him the high ups cant shut my tractors down , i said they could not even come over and start one not yet shut it down. lol. see that's computers for you. they control you! oops getting off topic.

An acquaintance of mine in a club once told me he was going to start selling some of the tractors in his collection. I don’t know how many he has. But when I asked him why he said; “I’m getting sick and tired of stale gas and dead batteries“.

You sound like someone who can’t afford newer tractors so you tear them and the owners down.
Is your only income from farming? Did you pay for your farm with those old tractors?

well when u farm 1/4 of land why would a person need a new tractor when i am a mechanic by trade. and no the farm did not buy them tractors. i am retired now and can enjoy what i like to do. i bought my first tractor over 50 years ago when i was 14 years old. this was a mccormick 10-20 i bought for 50.00 and got it running. been collecting tractors ever since, on auction sales or where ever i find one i like. so basically its only a tractor a year if you want to get technical. in the end they add up. dont know what u mean by tear the owners down??

My system is to find a couple of models you like, stick with them, and scatter them randomly about all the barns and sheds. For instance: I'm partial to the petrol Fordson Majors. I have four, but the girlfriend still thinks I only have two.

I just have to make sure I don't have more than two in the same field at the same time.

I always said you can't have too many, but the older I get, I'm thinking I might have to start re-thinking that at some point.
I have 17 of them, which I sometimes tell people is about 21 too many!! :D:D

If you are Tom Fredrick, then this still is NOT ENOUGH. :p

70 per row and 3 rows deep.

I had four. My wife - bless her, said 'hey - there is an old Ford tractor on craigslist for $200, in our town.' So, I put it on the trailer and now I have 5, but it is a Fergie. Yesterday, she is on FB and said 'there is another Ford tractor for $350'. Believe it or not, I passed. I think 5 is my limit. I also have 6 garden tractors. Only one of them is vintage.
