8N Sherman Trans Question

Just purchased a 1951 8N with a Sherman Trans. It has the dog leg lever and the previous owner thought it was a step up style. Can that style lever indicate a step up and or a combination trans? And how do I verify that? Thanks

If the shifter is one piece cast steel (not rolled steel with screw on knob) it is almost certainly a combination transmission.

Move shifter to neutral (mid way between UD (forward) and OD (reaward) to find direct drive by pulling to left side about 3/8" and then rearward.

It doesn’t have a screw on knob for sure and is cast. I will try that thanks 👍
