Ford 2600 Wheels...

Has anyone reversed the orientation of the wheels on a Ford 2600 to gain more clearance from the knee axle or use wider tires? I do this on my larger Fords, plus I like the benefit of the valve stem on the inside.

In the operators manual.... for the 80 inch wide setting... you have to flip the front rims/wheels... per the manual... dont remember if it is the 2000, 2600 or 2610 book, but its there.

Reversing the wheels for the 80” setting is generally only for cultivating row crops will little to no additional weight on the front of the tractor
I wouldn’t want to try that with a loader on the tractor
I see reversed wheels often and also have seen a number of cracked or broken rims as well as damaged hubs
I will always advocate for a wider rim with the correct offset over reversing the rims

I'm not running a loader, just a rotary mower. I'd like to upgrade to wider tires from 5.50-16 for a higher ply. Something like 6.50 or 7.50 but with the wheels as they are, there ins't enough clearance from the knee axle. If I reverse the wheels, there should be sufficient clearance.

We have done both.. .used washers for spacers or reversed the rims... We run thorn proof " 28 ply air craft tires" on our ranch tractors.... AND you MUST turn the rim around or used washers to clear the spindles... Otherwise they rub... going on 50 years now... If you need the thorn proof tires, call "1-800-noflats" Gensco.......as they sell them rim and all and will ship to your farm or ranch for a decent price. And those who run FE loaders down in the "sugar sand" country,,, must run a much wider tire, so they use 235-85 r16 USED truck tires and they have to also reverse the rims for clearance. The tire shops have boo-coo "take off" truck tires and sell them almost for the price of "mounting" them on your rims, but they also must be reversed when installing.... You do what you have to do... to survive, and feed your cows.

I'm considering Gensco or Rice Tire does Carlise TyrFil.... to foam fill a set of 5.50-16 is $122/pair and 7.50-16 $189/pair.
