Case 1070 Clutch

Bought a case 1070 4 speed with 3 speed power shift that runs and looks good. Company I purchased it from stated they went through the hydraulics and transmission and fixed or replaced everything that was worn or needed fixed. Question is when driving i have to let the clutch out almost to the top for it to engage. there is a lot of travel for the pedal but wont engage until it reaches almost to the top. Is this normal.

This also make the tractor jump if the RPMs are high especially in a low gear.

All normal, the clutch pedal is only operating a valve. The pedal will not have the feel of a normal clutch that is operating a throw out bearing. Just make sure the pedal is moving freely and the spring pulls it up against its stop when your foot is off of it. That Case engine has a lot of low end torque, you will find you don’t need a lot of rpm’s to get the tractor moving especially in the lower gears. Just FYI, the slight grunt from the engine when depressing the clutch is also normal. That is a transmission brake of sorts applying in the transmission.

both problems are adjustable for someone who knows what they are doing, sadly that's not me. Go down t the case forum and ask there, I'm sure someone will tell you what's going on. Where it becomes a problem is when the engine labors a lot when shifting, there should be a short tug on the engine but not a hard pull. Or if when you push the clutch the tractor stops like the brakes are applied. In those cases you need to make the adjustments quickly before dmge is done. Sounds like what you have is just an annoyance, but can be fixed. Again, ask down on the case forum for better advice.

That is an adjustment issue. They can be adjusted to slowly engage but I only know one person who can do it and that is my brother. No idea if he could explain it or needs to do it.
