Gas tank interchangeable?

I recently purchased a John Deere 620. It turns out that the gas tank is junk. I know where I can pick up a good clean tank from a John Deere 60. Will they interchange? Just by looking at the fill cap location, they look like they would.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello J.D.H. welcome to YT! I’m a red guy so I can’t tell you. Well I could look up the part numbers to see if they are the same but I have my doubts. Just for future info, it would have been best to post this on the JD forum under the Manufacturers section, probably would have gotten an answer within the hour. Show us a picture of it, is she a real pretty one?

Welcome to the forums.

None of the numbers I saw matched in the JD parts catalogs.

I suggest you call (phone call is the best way for salvage parts) one of the PartsASAP salvage yards and see what they have. They are the parent company of Yesterday's Tractor Co. and provide this website.

Thanks for the info. She's not pretty, but straight and a good starting point.
