OTR branded group 31 Batteries

Is anyone familiar with or have used OTR branded batteries sold by Fleet Pride Truck Parts? Wondering if are good quality. Thanks

OTR batteries are made by many different battery manufacturers. Exide, East Penn, Trojan are a few companies that make them.

I would not be afraid to use one. I have always bought Exide batteries when I could find them. They have served me well. And I like how they pack more CCA into their batteries than anyone else and any given group size.

Thanks for your response. They are a bit cheaper than some other brands and I always prefer people's opinion's that have used them than advertisements. Being Fleet Parts selling them I thought they would be good but best to check.

I have a pair of them running the winch and hydraulic pump on my gooseneck trailer on my second set, first set lasted almost 7 years

No experience on OTR, but I've said it before I'll say it again. 1 oz. of hydrogen peroxide per cell per year to non maintenance free batteries will extend life. I start when new and no down side for pennies a year. I've been doing this for 25+ years and my battery life has gone from averaging 5/6 years to 10+. I won't buy a sealed battery unless I have to.

some of the local repair shops will not buy them and if you take your truck in to them with electrical issue and fleetpride batteries they ask that you install quality batteries before electrical troubleshooting commences. As of that information I buy batteries elsewhere, just my $.02

Sounds like a scam to sell batteries not working on a vehicle because of the battery in it. Since there are only a few companies still makeing batteries now just how much difference can there really be in them since there is no gain to make poor quality batteries from the stand point of poor batteries makes for poor sales and back up the line to bankruptcy if done long enough. You can get any name on a battery if you order enough of them at a time .

PIcked up some freight at a large facility one time. They had a pallet of new Group 31 batteries setting in the building. I asked one guy what brand they use in when they service trucks. He said we buy a pallet load and the selling company gives them a bunch of stickers with different names on them so if somebody wants a particular brand they slap that label on it. We tried the Continental brand for a short time but they didn't last. We have gone to Delco brand now with pretty good luck.

I am fairly sure that is a crock of BS.

It is illegal to refuse service to a vehicle owner due to the brand of battery, engine oil or such serviceable parts or products that they choose to use.

It has been through the court system a few times with vehicle manufacturers trying to force people to use only manufacturer branded parts and products. The vehicle manufacturers lost every single suit and the government put a stop to it.

Reserve right to refuse service to ANYONE. The alternative is let them change out the batteries and charge the customer for it and when that does not fix it go on to the next step. really doesn't matter, if the customer was more capable and more competent, he would not take it to a mechanic. It is a 2 way street. Gm has a TSB for oil pressure issues and has been linked back to certain oil filter restrictions. Do you think GM will warranty your engine on their dime if your cheap oil filter caused oil pressure failure? Not the dealerships I have had business with. Same with a questionable battery. The shop owner will recommend a higher quality battery and if the customer neglects to consider the consequences... A failed alternator caused by a junky battery; not warranty that job, buy better batteries.

been working on class 8 trucks for 50 years,, your repair shops need an education, sounds like they want to sell parts instead of finding the problem, I will give you an example of what some these rip off shops do, Customer calls, driver left on lights can you come get truck started , Rip off shop comes, Installs new batteries , takes starter off takes it to shop cleans it up , put back on truck and sells as new starter, OH while we are there it needs a new alternator, I have seen this done more than once , so sad people cannot just be honest

I am curious about refusing to put on crap parts that you know will fail that the customer ask for because they are cheaper, I have done this many times refusing to put on bargin brake shoes that will not stop crap when loaded, I did not want the liability

I have used them for years in my tractors....too big for anything else. They are purchased by the skid/pallet and my local Navistar dealer may have a couple of skids sitting around. With that kind of volume they are extremely economical The terminals are 3/8" studs so your cable ends will have to be changed, but maybe its time for a new cable anyway. Different suppliers, as said, supply the dealerships but never had a bad one. Usually run over 900 CCA per battery and they are sealed....no need to add water.

While you are there you can pickup your antifreeze pre-mix with the anti-sleeve pitting chemical already installed.....another great priced item.
