So this on the A quite honestly worked much better than I could have imagined this weekend dealing with the sweet corn patch. Going to put the better pto guard on it off the b but other than that the creeper gear made this work fantastic.

Top link is too long however 21 inches is the shortest it will go I’ve had smaller ones but they get a lot smaller and bend easy. 3/4 inch pin both ends does anyone have a better option it DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GREEN it looks like one for a 730 goes down to 19 inches which is better and I had been thinking about it. And yes I know I can cut a hole in a heavy strap or chain but every implement I have this is the same problem and I’d love to be able to adjust. 21 inches should be in about the middle of the adjustment range

Why don’t you just put the top link in the bottom hole on the tractor. That appears as if it would solve your ‘too long top link’ problem.

They make short Cat 1 top links. Here's a generic part number for one with a 9" tube: 11STL004

yeah it was there all it did was bend the lock tab over I’m afraid there wasn’t enough it just needs to be 4 inches shorter. This is what it’s like there and down which is better in the other top hole position as well

Not quite that simple. You have to cut 1 and half inches off each threaded rod as well.

I suppose I’ll put the threaded rods end to end and compare it to the middle. Maybe put a piece of tube welded on both ends as a sleeve over the outside of where I cut it

I have several on my MMs and they are just butt welded together. If you think about it, when the implement is down, the top link pushes against the tractor. The tension load only comes on it when you lift the implement.

Why not just go buy a shorter one? They’re made of the exact same components, just shorter.

Or cut this one down the buy one the same length for other jobs/needs. Like MJMJ says they would be made from the same size pieces for a shorter one. if this is the only thing that needs a shorter link just use a piece of shaft or tube the correct length and drill a couple holes in it after being cut to the correct length.

Partsasap shows a number of top links of different tube lengths with some specs. They have several shorter ones that use the same 1-1/8" thread as the one in your picture has, I expect. I have one that is 13" tube and the tube material size and threads sizes are the same as my longer top links. Here is a link to their Cat. 1 top link page.

Yes if all things are the same but at least the ones I find they are smaller diameter. This has not happened on the larger size

Sounds like they were top links for compact tractors, not true category 1 top links. The TSC top links I see onn line with nuts like the one in your picture are Cat. 0, not Cat. 1. Thus they are smaller.

Unfortunately it’s what I’ve found in the local town I’ll call lake mills and see if they have a couple it’s an extra half hour away but I have to go in that direction today anyway for the 4640

That looks like a prime candidate for cutting the eyelets off at the thread and weld them onto a piece of heavy-wall pipe the exact size you need it to be. steve
